Crypto Firms Launch Quantum Alliance as 6 Million Bitcoin Sit Exposed

A consortium of nine crypto firms has formed a "Quantum Alliance," drawing inspiration from the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) model. The alliance's primary objective is to establish open standards for evaluating and validating claims of quantum resistance in cryptographic systems. This initiative comes as concerns rise over the vulnerability of existing cryptographic schemes, with forecasts suggesting that the first practical quantum attacks could emerge as early as the late 2020s, potentially exposing significant quantities of Bitcoin.
